About This Project...

pic pantone colors

The above pantone colors were carefully selected by our graphics and color expertsVirtual Translucent Printing Papers based on the colors and finishes of each individual type of material.

We started by breaking the Pantone groups down into 3 basic groups, red, green and blue.

We then broke it down into 'Pantone Lights' and 'Pantone Darks' in each color group and finally made our top choices from these color groups.

The results of our group were finalized and made available to you in the 3 hues above.

We will continue to analyze printing techniques such as ink(s) effects, ink colors, typography and many other finer lithographic practices.

Our goal is your goal, to look as good as you can on paper.

NOTE: You will notice we have not color matched them all because...well it would take too freaken long :-). We are currently working on another NEW family of Fine paper, followed by another and another!

Recommended Print Recipes

VIRTUAL Translucent Printing Papers are easy to print on when following these simple hints.Pic- Virtual Translucent Printing Papers It is recommended to pre~test all printing procedures prior to press time to ensure the desired results are achieved.

Inks: Use low solvent (0-5%), oil-based inks. Higher than recommended solvent content inks will cause ink set difficulties. Inks should be formulated to dry purely through oxidation. In-plant ink formulation is not recommended. Ask your ink manufacturer about VIRTUAL papers specifically. Samples for ink tests can be obtained by contacting your paper distributor or CTI Paper USA. Pre-test any unfamiliar procedures and ensure that proper ink formulations are utilized,

Handling: Keep VIRTUAL papers wrapped until the moment of printing. It is essential to let the paper acclimatize for a minimum of 24 hours longer during cold weather in the pressroom while still wrapped in mill packaging. Avoid using on-press heat and drying systems. Keep VIRTUAL products covered during drying, between passes and prior to any finishing work. Pressroom conditions should be as close as possible to 68 degrees F, and 45-60% relative humidity. Should you experience a curl problem, this is most likely temperature — or humidity related. If curl occurs, check the following: Has temperature and/or humidity changed dramatically in the last 24 hours? If so, paper must re-acclimatize. Has paper acclimatized in the work area for at least 24 hours? Has paper remained wrapped or covered AT ALL TIMES and between all press and bindery processes? Print in small lifts. Frequent airing of lifts is also recommended. VIRTUAL products should be covered before and after printing and throughout bindery operations. If the bindery has a different climate than the pressroom, allow the paper to acclimatize to those conditions.

Virtual Translucent Printing PapersFountain Solution: The ink-water balance should be run at an ABSOLUTE MINIMUM.The pH should not be below 4.0.Adding up to 10% alcohol is suggested. Given the non-porous property of VIRTUAL products, excess water will NOT be absorbed or removed from the blanket.Any excess water will slow drying. Solid or multiple color bars can be used to assist in removing water and aid in set time.
Offset Spray: If the job requires offset spray, use coated spray of normal fineness.

Varnish: Pre-test VIRTUAL products for compatibility. Do not use aqueous coatings. Apply I00% VOC-free varnish after the underlying ink is dry . A clear overprint varnish can be used to seal the sheet and reduce curling when VIRTUAL is used as a cover, wrap, free-hanging application, or when very heavy ink coverage is applied to one side of the paper. Consult your varnish supplier and pre-test.

Cutting: Do not use a newly sharpened blade when cutting VIRTUAL products. A newly sharpened blade may chip. A slightly dull but clean-edged blade with a 23°-bevel angle is ideal.

Folding and Scoring: Always fold, score and bind with the grain direction. Use a rounded Virtual Translucent Printing Paperschannel score to prevent cracking. It is recommended to use a minimum width of 2.5 times the caliper of the sheet to be scored, plus 8/1000”. It may be necessary to apply a strip of moisture along the inside fold line to facilitate folding and scoring. Do not use sharp tools when folding and scoring. Always pre-test any procedures prior to production
